AIHSC Advocates for HB3498 (Telehealth Expansion)

Because of the COVID pandemic, the country has been able to increase access to healthcare by instituting broader use of telehealth services.

Telehealth services expands healthcare services for underserved populations in rural areas, patients with limited mobility, and those experiencing logistical challenges related to transportation, childcare and taking time off work.

AIHSC advocates for HB3498 to expand access, strengthen equity, and modernize healthcare delivery by:

  • -Ensuring coverage and payment parity for services delivered via telehealth; and
  • Preserving audio-only to enable a broad range of convenient, medically appropriate options for our patient population as many may have limited data, devices without video capabilities, and lack of or unreliable internet.

This will bar payors from restricting patient or provider geographic location during services or requiring proof of hardship in order to utilize telehealth.

Telehealth services should be accessible for all patients!

Patient preference and clinical appropriateness should determine course of care not payors!
